由兩位南方說唱歌手Pimp C和Bun B組建的UGK組合已經(jīng)成軍20年，從他們發(fā)片的頻率我們就能看出，UGK不是一支純粹的商業(yè)組合。 Bun B和Pimp C的組合UGK在上世紀(jì)八十年代末就出道了，連續(xù)發(fā)行了幾張成功專輯之后,UGK登上了南部的頂峰，也是他們一起把德州的休斯頓推上了Hip-Hop的版圖。 但是團(tuán)隊(duì)的發(fā)展并不是一帆風(fēng)順，成員Pimp C早先犯下攜帶槍支罪，但由于事后未參加社區(qū)服務(wù)而被判罰八年監(jiān)禁。Bun B接過了他的事業(yè)，到處宣傳“放了Pimp C”的口號(hào)。他也非法發(fā)放了成千上萬件印有“放了Pimp C”的T恤。Pimp C在獄中推出了自己的首張個(gè)人專輯《Sweet James Jones Stories》，當(dāng)年年末，也就在他快達(dá)到監(jiān)獄生涯的一半四年時(shí)，Pimp C被釋放出獄。2006年夏天，歌迷們終于等到了真正的Pimp C新專輯——《Pimpalation》。其間Bun B也沒有閑著，2005年發(fā)行了一張個(gè)人專輯《Trill》,并大受好評(píng)。但好景不長(zhǎng)，2007年12月4日，Pimp C在好萊塢的Mondrian酒店房間里死亡，警方證明Pimp C當(dāng)時(shí)穿戴整齊，并沒有吸食毒品的跡象，也沒有跌倒或受傷的痕跡，是自然死亡。Pimp C的以外死亡對(duì)于整個(gè)休斯頓，整個(gè)南部，整個(gè)Hip-Hop界來說都是件悲痛異常的事情。 by John Bush Southern gangsta rappers Pimp C and Bun B formed UGK (aka Underground Kingz) in the late '80s and signed to Jive Records for their major-label debut album, 1992's Too Hard to Swallow. After second album Super Tight..., UGK hit the R&B charts with 1996's Ridin' Dirty, which ascended to the number two spot. Dirty Money followed in late 2001. Pimp C began serving at three-year jail sentence in early 2002, putting UGK on ice until 2007, when the double album Underground Kingz appeared.
