音樂不停地改造與轉(zhuǎn)化，終究逃不出既定的基本模式，只是看實(shí)驗(yàn)性的創(chuàng)新組合與搭配，但是聲音的魔力，卻往往不需要任何樂器伴奏，就可以讓人感動到如癡如醉。打從11歲就已經(jīng)登上舞臺表演的Leela，是教會樂團(tuán)中的主力小唱將，除了有一副令人稱羨的好嗓音外，同樣還是位杰出的運(yùn)動選手。高中時(shí)期的Leela雖然不時(shí)仍在家鄉(xiāng)教堂中表演，但是大部分的時(shí)間她都花在跑步訓(xùn)練上，同時(shí)利用英文寫作時(shí)間，嘗試撰寫歌詞，其歌唱與創(chuàng)作天賦被學(xué)校老師發(fā)掘，引導(dǎo)她去錄音室實(shí)習(xí)。不久Leela被網(wǎng)羅組織起女子三人團(tuán)，累積演唱經(jīng)驗(yàn)。實(shí)力太搶眼的Leela，兩年歷練后單飛尋求自己的音樂天空，很快被華納音樂集團(tuán)相中簽入旗下。 by Andy Kellman Like almost all other vocalists tagged neo-soul, Leela James' primary inspirations date no later than the late '70s (Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and Tina Turner are regularly cited). Her debut album involved assistance from a range of noted studio rats from the fields of rap and R&B, including Kanye West, Raphael Saadiq, James Poyser, Chucky Thompson, and Wyclef Jean. The album, titled A Change Is Gonna Come (a definite reference to Sam Cooke), was released in late June of 2005.
