The Final Frontier

Iron Maiden (鐵娘子樂隊)早已憑借Two Minutes To Midnight和The Trooper被人熟知,成為最有影響的重金屬樂隊之一.這支被眾人效仿的成功的樂隊生存了20多年,在風格上借鑒了Judas Priest.盡管媒體經常對其報道,但Iron Maiden仍有著很強的地下樂隊的氣息.Iron Maiden作為一支英式金屬樂隊與Black Sabbath、Led Zeppelin等著名樂隊稱雄80年代,成為那個”搖滾黃金年代”的典范.

1980年,Iron Maiden出版了他們的同名專輯.雖然專輯出的很倉促,但仍然給了當時的英國樂壇以巨大震動.81年的Killers出版后,主唱Paul Di’Anno酗酒成癮, Bruce Dickinson于1982年取代了他的位置.1982年,The Number Of The Beast在新的主唱的加盟下,勇奪UK專輯榜冠軍,這使主唱Bruce在樂隊的主導地位完全確立了.而Iron Maiden也同時成了世界上最受歡迎的重金屬樂隊之一,他們的專輯、熱門單曲以及他們頗為壯觀的現(xiàn)場表演都在時時牽動著眾多歌迷的心.在一舉成為世界明星后,Iron Maiden為了作品的國際化而改變了一些風格,1983年出版了Piece Of Mind. 在1984年的Powerslave出版前,樂隊舉辦了一系列的巡演,獲得巨大成功.隨后1985年的雙張現(xiàn)場演出專輯Live After Death則收錄了此前樂隊所有的單曲.此時Iron Maiden已經確立了自己強勁、獨特的樂隊風格.在一段沉寂之后,Somewhere In Time的出版則從另一面展示了樂隊的才華.豐富的和聲以及漂亮的吉他段落,讓人感覺樂隊已日漸成熟.1988年的Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son則是自The Number Of The Beast最具思想性的專輯.

在一系列的巡回演出后,樂隊出現(xiàn)了人員危機.先是吉他手Smith離開.雖然新吉他手Janick Gers加盟并在1990年樂隊出版了No Prayer For The Dying,但很快Dickinson也萌生去意.樂隊和Dickinson合作的最后一張專輯Fear Of The Dark于1992年出版.1993年出版了現(xiàn)場專輯A Real Live One以及A Real Dead One.而Dickinson 1995年重新歸隊后出版的The X Factor則被評價為Iron Maiden歷史最差專輯.之后的Best Of The Beast以及Ed Hunter也沒再能掀起波瀾.隨著重金屬的衰落,Iron Maiden也衰老了下去.

不管怎樣,Iron Maiden確實是重金屬鼎盛時代的一個代表樂隊.那個時代是搖滾樂最輝煌的時代.
